The Magic of the Open Water

It's NO exaggeration to say I've been slacking on the training lately. But I'd rather not get into that.

Thankfully, coach Jackie held an open water swim clinic today out at Lake Las Vegas and also THANKFULLY my friend Leslie was going and offered to drive me.

We showed up. And that, my friends was 80% of the effort right there.

The swim was AWESOME! I had so much fun and this confirmed (again) that I love open water swimming so much more than pool swimming.

Coach Kara of the phenomenal Swim Las Vegas said the water temperature was 72 degrees. If you ask me it felt a lot colder than that but once my hands and face acclimated I felt very strong, natural and smooth. Swam 1000+ yards and called it good!

The longest triathlon swim I will do this year is 750 yards (meters? yards? whatever!) so I totally have it in the bag baby.

I will be going into Showdown at Sundown in two weeks with a great attitude making it all about FUN! Which is captured right here in the above picture Kara took of me today.

Have a great week everyone!

:-)

Sounds like it was a great swim. Love the picture. It should be great to be able to do the race just for the fun of it

Yes showing up is like 80 or 90% of the key....I love that quote. It applies in the gym, on the bike, in business, or relationships. Love reading your story Stef!

Awesome pic!

You are so right about that 80%. Totally.

72*, I was thinking it would be 60's. Regardless, it sounds COLD!

Way to go!
