Happy New Year!

When I last left off, I was full of intentions to blog more.

Didn't happen.

I have kept up with other blogs though and Lisa and Sarah's recent posts have inspired me to start again.

Oh and Izaac's recent post is really super funny.

My focus for 2010 has changed dramatically. I guess in reality it hasn't changed that much but in relation to this blog it feels like it has.

Not focusing on long course has caused me to become much more relaxed about my training. So much so that I'm not working with my wonderful coach anymore. This broke my heart but frankly I was starting to feel strangled (figuratively) by the schedule, had no desire to train, and so was not doing the workouts. Since this serves neither of us I decided that taking a break from coaching was the right decision.

It SUCKED though because I felt like by letting go of working with Liz I was letting go of a part of my Silverman experience and doing the half Silverman is what renewed my confidence in myself and is in fact why I have my own business right now!

So here I am. Without a triathlon coach for the first time in three years and wondering where triathlon fits into my life now. The desire to train and race is not the same as it once was and I have to accept that. There is no other way for me to move forward.

Because I'm training less, I feel extremely out of shape and have packed on some extra padding around the middle which I've NEVER had before and which is driving me quite crazy. At the same time I feel like this repositioning of priorities is 100% the right thing for me.

I have big plans for my business in 2010. HUGE. On paper it looks a bit batty in fact. Thing is though, I know I can do it. The other thing is, I know I can do it while keeping myself healthy and shapely and having fun. :-)

So, the tenor of this blog is going to evolve.

My first triathlon of the season is the Showdown at Sundown on March 27, sprint distance! It should be a lot of fun! After that we'll see!!

Happy New Year!!!

Go with how you feel. Maybe you need to find something different to grab your attention. The end goal is to stay healthy and fit and have fun, right?

Happy New Year. May 2010 be an AWESOME year for you. :-)

We all need different challenges from year to year. I know at some point my husband (and maybe DEEP down somewhere me MAYBE too) wants a family so I'm trying to get out all the racing and stuff before that happens =).

I'm excited to follow whatever is on your plate for the coming year

Hanging onto coach because it makes you feel good is not the right answer. I'm glad you realized this and took steps to correct it. Liz has good group of people that she works with. They come and go as they need her (like meself). She understands.

We are at a new point in our triathlon lifestyle now. The newness of it all has worn off. Now is the time when we decide what is important to us and put it all into balance.

I wish you the best for 2010. Happy New Year :-)

With all else you've got going on, why add more stress from a hobby? My primary reason for having a coach is to keep me from doing too much. In that sense, he lowers my stress (and risk of injury) so I'm keeping him.

Best of luck to you in 2010!
