I like swimming.
Yup, I do.
It started when I joined Swim Group last season and then sort of snuck up on me as Season 2009 training started.
I actually like getting in and moving through the water. Such a refreshing change from the last two years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is GREAT cause it's now going to be easier for me to get better at a sport that I actually like.
Coach is making me swim three times a week (we are in a swim focus right now) and soon, very soon, I will be starting up with Masters. Next week is my 1000 yard time trial test which, well, BLECH! Who likes those? Noone I know. Then again no sport is perfect.
Last week I had a 500 yard time trial and figured my result was just average. I wasn't too concerned about it since it is so early in the year and I did work hard for it and so had no regrets or nasty thoughts that I could have/should have worked harder when it was done.
Then Coach emailed me later and pointed out that I had dropped 18 seconds per hundred compared with this time last year.
18 SECONDS PER HUNDRED. That's pretty darn good!
Another reason that I like swimming -- continued improvement! Improvement is always fun but for me just not dreading the swim workouts (and in fact actually looking forward to some of them -- GASP) is the bigger reward.
My times will go down this season too. I can feel it!

What a mermaid you're turning out to be! 18 seconds faster per hundred is AWESOME!! So glad you're enjoying the swim and making such noticeable progress!
Wow! That's an awesome improvement over last year. I'm so jealous!!! My test is Saturday...fun, fun :)
Sweet!! That's a fantastic improvement. At some point I'm thinking I'm going to have to join a masters group or something...
That is some nice work! Your times are definitely going down this season! Your confidence alone will slash them!
That is great news!!
I am so happy for you!
Yay! great improvement. And you like it. doesn't get much better than that. :-)
Whoa! Taking 18 seconds off per 100 is HUGE! Great job!
Man, I wish you could send me some of that love for swimming. I still hate it and see no improvement (in fairness to my masters group, I have only been three times so far). It doesn't help that every one in masters seems to be an ex-swim team person.
You get HUGE kudos from me for swimming 3 times a week. I can barely handle 2.
18 seconds per 100 is a REALLY BIG improvement. Way to go
18 seconds?
That's FANTASTIC!
I'm loving the pool recently, too. But take my advice, don't do next week what I did on my test this week. I was 400 into it (ALL OUT MAX...you know the drill) and realized that I had forgotten the rest intervals! Moron. So I had a 400 warmup to my test. I know. So don't forget to rest!
Oh...and btw, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
18sec/100 is HUGE -- CONRATS!!
But, yes, just even now liking swimming will make a big difference. Hard to improve on something you don't like. Keep it up and good luck on your swim TT!
So awesome! Way to go!
Nice job!!! Great improvement!!
Wow...Danielle said you were a busy lady with the Tri stuff...she wasn't kidding! Congrats on times! And good luck this season!
DANG! 18 seconds is huge! So when you say that you have a 1000 yard TT, does that mean all out for 1000 yeards? Ugh, the thought of that makes my head hurt.
