Mellow Day After Christmas

Yesterday we celebrated Christmas by sleeping in, going for a long run through and past the historic railroad tunnels (Tony and I ran, Glenn and Brinley walked and played), and spending the afternoon/evening with family.

This week starts a step back (rest) week. Rest weeks have been notoriously hard for me because it always has felt like the past three weeks of training set in and BAM -- tired. Don't want to do anything. The workouts are short and less intense which means it's tempting to just skip them.

Not this year.

Certainly there are times when extra rest is needed and warranted but overall I'm done holding back. The rest week workouts serve as much of a purpose as the other workouts do and this year I really feel that. So bring the short easy swims, bikes and runs this week -- this year!

Glenn got me a new pair of running shoes for Christmas!

Rest week is the perfect time to try them out!

Have a great week everyone!
