One Year Later

Can't believe it's been a whole year since I last completed a triathlon or blogged on this blog. Iron Girl 2010 was an epic race for me. Over the past year as I've poured tons of energy and resources into my business training has taken a spot on the sidelines.

It struck me earlier this week that in these two and a half years post Silverman, things have changed A LOT. Things I thought were impossible (or at least impossible for me) now no longer seem impossible. My vision for myself, my business and my life since Silverman has gotten exponentially larger.

This is both a blessing and a curse.

Since I've seen, lived, and breathed evidence that I can do whatever I set my mind and heart to, it feels impossible to settle for anything less. And, since old habits die hard and I still tend to put tons of pressure on myself, I've been pretty stressed out lately (to put it mildly).

A friend suggested last week that I consider blogging again about training. It's a good idea. While I don't mind that I don't have any big races on the schedule for 2011 (don't have any desire for BIG races this year in fact) I miss who I am when training. I miss the energy that I receive from training and who I am because of it.

Oh sure it's easy to say just train anyway.

I've been saying that for the last year and a half. And training has consisted of a lot of fits and starts, stalls and long periods of nothing.

I know for a fact that what I'm doing now is just as important as (or more so) than Silverman. Silverman was a beginning, a catalyst for something HUGE.

So in order to get out of the "all or nothing" mindset that is neither helpful nor constructive, I'm going back to basics. Weight training, cardio and training for the Pumpkinman sprint this October. Pumpkinman was my very first triathlon back in the fall of 2006. My return five years later to the sprint distance is going to be . . .

Wait For It . . .

LEGENDARY.

(lol)

[What can I say I've been watching How I Met Your Mother Reruns lately]

So I'll be writing about my training and goals for 2011 and about the fun stuff that Tony and I still do. Like RAGE! Talk about epic, game changing showings at Rage for me in both 2008 and 2009. In 2010 I cheerfully volunteered, and then last weekend I participated in the sprint distance as . . .

Wait For It . . .

Part of a relay!!

We had a BLAST! It was a first relay experience for all of us!

Tearing up that 5k course!

So . . . I'm back bitches!

I'M BACK.
